Varda Rotem | Sculptures

All of Rotem’s portraits are drawn with great skill, a subtly self-derisive humorous note, in an economical style, not to mention positively miserly in detail. Rotem paints and “uses” lone details, limited and ascetic information, with sparse lines serving her purposes. The portraits are painted with obsession and strong emotional involvement on the part of the artist apparent, most of them of her husband Mordechai (“Moni”).
